How ChessDada Works — Step by Step

From opening the site to your first checkmate: every screen, every button, in the order you will meet them. The pictures are real screens from a phone; on a computer everything is the same, just wider.

1Open ChessDada and choose how to play

ChessDada is free, live chess against real people, right in your browser. There is nothing to download and nothing to pay.

Tap Play Now on the homepage. A small card asks how you want to come in: Google, Create Account with Email, or Play as Guest. A guest is playing within seconds with an automatic name. If you sign in, you keep your own name, your rating and your game history on every device.

2The menu: everything on the site

Tap Menu (on a computer the menu is already open on the left). Start Playing takes you to the lobby, and the language box switches the whole site to your own language — 18 languages are available.

Below that you will find Get it on Google Play for the Android app, Join Us on WhatsApp to find people to play with, Play vs Computer to practise against the engine, Daily Puzzles for a new puzzle every day, All Articles for our chess guides, and Community. At the bottom are the Chrome and Edge extensions, the Android APK file and a lesson on how to play chess.

3The lobby: pick a room

The lobby is the main hall. Every card is a room — Beginner, Intermediate, Blitz, Bullet, Rapid, Tournament and more. Each card shows how many players and how many tables are inside right now.

Rooms only suggest a time control; you can still set your own time at your table. One room is different: Casual Play is unrated, so your rating never changes there. Pick a card and tap Enter Room.

4Inside a room: sit, watch or Quick Play

A room lists every table on top and every player with their rating below. You have three ways to get a game:

Sit — tap Sit White or Sit Black on any table with an empty seat. Watch — follow a live game as a spectator. Quick Play — ChessDada finds an open table with the same time control and seats you there; if there is none, it opens a new table for you and the next Quick Play player lands on it.

The room also has its own Room Chat and a Dark Mode button.

5Create your own table

Tap Create Table to host a game. Choose the minutes (1 to 99), the increment in seconds (0 to 30) and your colour. A game of 5 + 2 means five minutes each, plus two seconds added to your clock after every move you make.

Tap Create Table again and you are sitting at your own board, waiting for an opponent. As the host you can still change the time by tapping a clock before the game starts.

6Invite a friend

At your table, tap Invite on WhatsApp to send the invitation straight to a chat. Or open Menu → Copy Invite Link and paste the link anywhere — SMS, Messenger, email.

The link stays good for 30 days. If your table has closed by the time your friend taps it, the link simply opens a new table, so it never leads to a dead page.

Two more ways to call someone: Challenge a Friend rings the people you follow, and Invite Player calls anyone who is in the room right now. They get a card with Accept and Decline.

7The table menu

The table Menu holds the tools for the host and the players. Who is Here lists everyone at the table, players and spectators. The host can Boot a spectator, and Make Private keeps strangers out so only invited people can sit.

8Your friend joins and the game starts

Your friend taps the link and lands directly at your table — no sign up needed. If both seats are already taken, they come in as a spectator instead.

When both players press Start Game, the clocks begin. Nothing starts until both of you are ready.

9Playing: moves, clocks and extra time

To move, tap a piece and then tap a square. Dots show every legal move, and illegal moves are simply refused. Your clock runs only on your turn, and every move is written in the list under the board.

Is your opponent running low on time in a friendly game? Tap a clock and press Give — they get 30 extra seconds. You can give as often as you like.

10Chat and the game buttons

Scroll down to chat with your opponent. You can type, or tap the microphone to send a voice message of up to 60 seconds. Spectators can chat too.

Under the chat are four buttons. Draw offers a draw (three offers per game). Undo asks to take your last move back. Resign gives up the game. Stand Up leaves your seat — and if the game is already running, standing up counts as a loss, so the site asks you first.

When your opponent offers a draw or asks for an undo, a card pops up and you choose Accept or Decline.

11Profiles and settings

Tap a player's name to see their rating, games, wins, losses and draws, with a link to their full profile page. From a profile you can follow a player, which puts them in your Challenge a Friend list.

In the menu you can change the board theme and the piece style, choose your move sounds (or turn all sound off), and switch between dark and light mode. Your choices are remembered on that device.

12If someone loses connection

Phones lose signal; ChessDada does not punish that straight away. If your opponent drops, the game waits for them — 2 minutes, or 5 minutes in games of 20 minutes and longer — and a countdown shows on the board.

While you wait you choose what should happen: Claim Victory when the time is up, settle for a Draw, or Wait and let the clock decide. If they come back in time, the game carries on exactly where it stopped.

13Game over: result, rating and rematch

When the game ends you see the result and your new rating. Everyone starts at 1200, and your rating moves faster during your first 20 games so it finds your real level quickly.

Tap Start Game for a rematch at the same table, Game Preview to replay the game move by move with a computer review, or Back to Room to find a new opponent.

The moment your account is created, you are automatically redirected to the Lobby. This is the heart of ChessDada. Think of the lobby as a grand hall where all the action begins. You will see a list of available game rooms organized by time control — Bullet rooms for those who like adrenaline-pumping one-minute games, Blitz rooms for five-minute battles, Rapid rooms for fifteen-minute strategic duels, and Classical rooms for those who prefer the deep, slow-burning chess experience.

Each room shows how many players are currently inside, their average rating, and whether any seats are open. You simply click on the room that matches your mood, and you are taken to the Table. The table is where the magic happens — you sit down, your opponent appears, the clock starts ticking, and the game begins. Rating System: Yahoo-Inspired Elo Engine
