ChessDada operates the ChessDada website (chessdada.com), Chrome Extension, and Android mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our free multiplayer chess platform.
We collect the following information when you create an account: username, email address, and password (encrypted using bcrypt hashing). If you sign in with Google or Microsoft, we receive your name and email address from those providers. We do not collect payment information, as ChessDada is completely free to use.
We use your information to provide and maintain the chess platform, authenticate your account, display your username to other players during games and in chat, track game statistics and ratings (Elo), enable multiplayer matchmaking, and improve our services based on aggregated usage patterns.
Your data is stored securely on our servers located in DigitalOcean data centers. Passwords are never stored in plaintext — they are hashed using bcrypt with industry-standard salt rounds. All connections to ChessDada use HTTPS encryption (TLS 1.3). We do not sell or trade your personal information. Limited technical data may be processed by the service providers described in the “Third-Party Services” and “Advertising and Cookies” sections below.
We use a single authentication cookie to keep you logged in across sessions. This cookie is essential for the service to function and cannot be disabled. In addition, third-party vendors — including Google — may set cookies on your device to serve and measure advertising. See the “Advertising and Cookies” section below for details and for how to opt out.
We use Google Analytics for anonymized usage statistics, Google AdSense to display advertisements, Google OAuth for optional Google Sign-In, and Microsoft Identity Platform for optional Microsoft Sign-In. These providers may collect limited technical information (IP address, browser type, device identifiers) according to their own privacy policies.
ChessDada is free to use and is supported by advertising. To keep the platform free we display ads served by Google AdSense.
If you visit ChessDada from the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google's consent management tool asks for your permission before any non-essential advertising or measurement cookies are set, in line with the EU User Consent Policy and the GDPR. Personalised ads are shown only if you consent; if you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be non-personalised. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the “Privacy & cookie settings” link shown by that tool, or by clearing cookies for chessdada.com in your browser.
Under the GDPR and the UK GDPR you also have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you, and to object to its processing. To exercise any of these rights, email us at info@chessdada.com.
We do not sell your personal information as that term is defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). You may request access to, or deletion of, your personal information by emailing info@chessdada.com.
ChessDada is available to users of all ages. Chess is a family-friendly activity and our platform is designed to be safe for younger players. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
You have the right to request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time. To request deletion, please email us at info@chessdada.com from the email address associated with your account. We will process your request within 30 days.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes. Continued use of ChessDada after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
